What Is a Catch Basin?

Catch basins are usually located on private property and serve as a connection point for the sink lines, laundry and floor drain of a building or house. These basins can become clogged with debris over time, which is why we offer services to dig out the accumulated debris and keep the system functioning properly. In some cases, the catch basins may need to be repaired or replaced if they are beyond repair.

Catch Basin Drain Installation in Chicago, IL

Does the lawn or landscape beds on your property retain water? Do your landscape beds erode quickly, resulting in the loss of mulch and topsoil? If this is the case, your home requires landscape drainage. Installing a catch basin drain system is one of the best ways to solve landscape drainage problems. Most importantly, with proper installation, materials, and maintenance, a catch basin drain is the most cost-effective solution for the lifetime of the home. Bubba, Wayne & Tim Sewer Service Inc offers services in W. Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL. Our services include:

Storm Basins

Storm basins are usually installed for garages, parking lots, gutters, and area drains. We build and replace storm basins as needed. We also clean out debris from storm basins.

Lawn Basins

Lawn basins are installed in yards where water has nowhere to drain. We install lawn drain piping and basins to prevent water from eroding your yard and flower beds.

Inspection Manholes

We install inspection manholes for the EPA to test water samples and to rod sewer lines.

How We Install Catch Basin Drain?

The first step in installing a catch basin drain is to plan. We examine your specific topography to locate downspouts, water sources, and low and high points in the landscape. Catch basin landscape drainage is most effective when installed in a low-section area, particularly in the lowest ground level where water flows to catch and stop water accumulation. In addition, the trench will be dug-up and sized accordingly. Take on board that the larger the catch basin, the larger the channel.

The catch basin's cover is equivalent to ground level, and the remaining portion of the drainage is secured with excavated soil. Please note that the trench should always be oriented one inch deeper for every ten feet of piping to ensure proper water drainage. Finally, we poke five holes in the bottom of the container—one in each corner and the middle—to allow standing water to drain. We also provide other landscape drainage solutions, such as a high-quality French drain installation or an effective sump-pump drainage system. A catch basin drain system is available in two sizes.

What Is the Function of a Catch Basin Drain System?

The Catch Basin Sewage System originates from its container-like shape. We install them in low-lying places on your lawn where there is an amount of water collected. The basic design is a grate (cover) that fits into the box and allows water to fill it. The grating removes the majority of the undesirable waste from the collected water.

As a result, water is forced down into the container and directed away from your home via PVC pipes. These are known as the Inflow and Outlet Pipes. The appropriate material is required to ensure the drainage's longevity. The PVC SDR 35 Pipe is recommended and used by Bubba, Wayne & Tim Sewer Service Inc.

What is PVC SDR 35 Made of?

The pipe's components include polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a hard, durable plastic with no adaptability. For residential or small commercial building landscape drainage systems, the SDR 35 is the appropriate size. The SDR 35 is a general classification for the layer thickness of a PVC pipe.

Unlike corrugated drain pipes, SDR 35 PVC pipes can be seated underground. The wall thickness guaranteed efficient protection against water-induced friction, soil movement, and potential root system damage. If these pipes become clogged, we use an Electric Sewer Snake to rinse them without causing possible physical damage to the water pipes.

Cleaning a Catch Basin Drain System

The Catch Basin Drainage System is one of the most simple to clean and maintain. On the plus side, because this system design is to collect all debris in the basin, cleaning the drainage system is a walk in the park. Without a doubt, Bubba, Wayne & Tim Sewer Service Inc advises keeping an eye on the catch basin and ensuring its cleanliness before and after a heavy rainstorm.

Here's how to do it:

  • First, remove the grate top with a flat screwdriver.
  • Rich inside, eradicate all debris.
  • Replace the grate on the basin.

Additionally, make sure that debris never rises above the inlet's level. The inlet is where water and waste enter the basin. Keep in mind that debris can enter the PVC pipes while cleaning it. Debris must never accumulate above the channel. Otherwise, the PVC pipes are more likely to become clogged. As a result, we advise cleaning this system at least once every six months.

What is the Price of a Catch Basin Drain?

For small jobs, a typical Catch Basin System can start at $2,500. Remember that the cost of a Catch Basin Drainage System can be pre-determined by an array of factors whereby some of the obstacles encountered during the French Drain Installation, for example, are similar to those experienced during the Catch Basin Installation.

To name a few variables affecting the cost:

  • Root frameworks
  • Pipes for sprinkler systems
  • Pipes for swimming pools
  • Power lines
  • Materials

However, note that the more labor-intensive the process, the higher the cost. Bubba, Wayne & Tim Sewer Service Inc, on the other hand, has licensed irrigators on staff who can solve your problems right away! Call us today for free estimates on fast repair and installations.
